Aluminium ist ein sehr leichtes weißlich-graues Metall, das auch ein guter Stromleiter ist. Es wird viel in der Elektrotechnik verwendet, insbesondere in Form von Legierungen, ferner in der Automobilindustrie, in der Luftfahrt, Bau- und Computerindustrie. In der Natur kommt Aluminium am häufigsten in Form von Verbindungen vor, die bekannteste davon ist der Bauxit.
